How To Get A Blank New Tab Page In Chrome
Nov 2, 2014Web and InternetComments (5)
Chrome's New Tab page contains a lot of content that can take a few moments to load. If you're like me you prefer to have a simple blank page show up with each new window or tab.
I created two extensions that replace the New Tab page with a blank one. One extension retains the Bookmarks Bar functionality, while the other is fully blank.
Bookmarks Bar
Normally, Chrome displays the Bookmarks Bar on the New Tab page if you have Show Bookmarks Bar set to off in Chrome Bookmarks Settings. The first extension retains this functionality:
'Blank New Tab Page With Bookmarks Bar' Extension
If you want an entirely blank New Tab page that does not show a Bookmarks Bar, use this extension instead:

Finally I found this extension that provides this functionality. Thanks very much.
Hi. I use version 1.0.1_0 on Edge Beta for Linux (v.94.0). I located the file that provides the blank tab (newtab.html) on the extension's directory; I want it to be completely black (or dark, in any case) because bright ligth hurts my eyes; when I edit the HTML to add a black background, it works once and then it gets blocked by Edge; clicking on "Repair" restores a white tab. Is there a way to change the background colour and keep the extension functioning? Thanks!
@Tiago Yeah, that extension is gone (!), Error 404 (Not Found)!!1
The "Blank New Tab Page With Bookmarks Bar" extension link is not working anymore
I love this Chrome Extension, but I somehow 'deleted' one of the Frequently Visited pages that usually appears on that page. I want to put it back, but I can't tell how to do that.
