The easiest way I have found to adjust the FOV in Black Ops is to bind it to a key in the config file. This is because certain parts of the game, especially the teleporter in zombie mode, often resets your FOV to the default, and it's very easy to then just hit the hotkey and change it again.

In your config file, which is in the players folder in your Steam/steamapps/common/call of duty black ops/player folder (or in the base game folder/player, if you aren't using Steam), add the following string on its own line somewhere in the binding section:

bind U "cg_fov 90"

By following this guide, you will be able to survive nearly indefinitely on the "Kino der Toten" zombie level in Call of Duty Black Ops. It may take a few tries to get through the early part of the game, but once you make it through round 15 it will be smooth sailing, until you die out of boredom or simply quit.

This guide is focused on PC players, but should work fine on console. The main advantage of the PC is the ability to aim quicker and more precisely, as well as the ability to increase the field of view.

I just played Call of Duty: Black Ops on PC yesterday for the first time. I was disappointed, and I certainly won't be picking it up. This new Call of Duty feels even more haphazard and rushed than Modern Warfare 2.

Just like MW2, Black Ops relies on "flare" to trick its players (or should I say viewers?) into thinking its an impressive game. Treyarch did everything they could to hide the bugs, poor gameplay, and all-around below average flow of the game, all the while taking the next step towards becoming an interactive movie as opposed to a first-person shooter.

The game loads slow and runs poor even on high-end machines. The menu screen is ridiculously gratuitous, and you're forced to watch a fairly lengthy, jittery, and flickering logo splash when you first start the game, and an equally-flashy and jittery action scene collage when you try to quit the game.

So Call of Duty: Black Ops just came out. It's $60, which is no surprise. PC games used to cost $50, but in reality game pricing has been very reasonable given the rate of inflation. I've read some analysis of past game pricing for old systems like NES and SNES, and the pricing today, adjusted for inflation, should actually be $90-100. To make up for this disparity, more and more games have expansion packs and downloadable content being released for them, as well as Special Editions. But looking at just the base game, $60 should be a bargain.

So here's my take on the $60 PC game. I'm ok paying $60 for a game that is fun, well-made, and is something special. Starcraft 2, while being based on the original Starcraft, is a completely new game with a new engine and loads of new features. Not to mention it has a professional e-sports following with an entire country behind it (I am speaking of course to South Korea).
