Minecraft, Minecraft, Minecraft...

All I hear about these days is Minecraft. IGN PC recently started posting articles about it (boy are they late to the party). It goes to show you that a low-budget game created by one developer over the course of a couple years can be extremely popular and profitable. I bet there's more than one developer at a big name company wishing they could relieve themselves of the stress and pressure of modern packaged games and create something fun like Minecraft.

I personally haven't played it too much (by Minecraft standards that means I haven't put hundreds of hours into it). I played the "classic" version quite a while back and had some fun, and have logged a few hours in the newer alpha version (also fun). I may pick up the final game when it comes out, we'll see. I want to spend more of my time programming and producing music though, so I limit myself to a match or two of Starcraft 2 every other day or so. That doesn't leave any time for Minecraft, which is probably a good thing.

Update Jan 9, 2011 -- I decided to purchase Minecraft a couple weeks before the Beta came out, in light of the price increasing and the lifetime updates only being available to purchasers of the Alpha version. You may see some Minecraft posts from time to time. ;-]
