Playing Games
Posted November 16, 2011 by Nick Vogt in Miscellaneous
I've put some times into Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Skyrim over the last few weeks (part of the reason for the lack of updates). I was originally planning to create some posts regarding BF3 (tweaks, review, etc), but I honestly have not liked the game at all. My whole experience with Origin and Battlelog has been very negative. Once playing the game, I find the graphics to be extremely obtrusive. I don't care how "realistic" it looks, when you start sacrificing gameplay for "wow" factor, I stop playing the game:

I put some time into MW3 too, but nothing really to say about it yet. Skyrim has been holding my attention the most by far, and it wasn't even the one I was originally excited about (Rage and BF3 have both been pretty big disappointments).

I played a good amount of Oblivion, but found it to get rather repetitive after a while. Skyrim feels similar to Oblivion but quite a bit better. The repetitiveness of it doesn't come through as much, thanks to a greater variety of things to do. The atmosphere and ambiance of the game is incredible. I really like how they kept the game streamline and simple. There's no six logo splash screens when it starts up, loading everywhere is very quick, and the menu is minimalistic. The breadth of graphics options is also very welcome.
