By default, both Windows XP and Windows 7 hide the extensions for common files, such as .jpg, .pdf, .html, and .doc. I recommend changing this behavior, so that you can more easily change the file extension and determine the file type of a file. To do this, you need to uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options. Follow the below instructions for your operating system.

Want to change a keyboard shortcut for something in Photoshop? Annoyed that Brightness/Contrast doesn't have a keyboard shortcut by default? It is easy to assign a keyboard shortcut in Photoshop, just be wary that most keyboard shortcuts are already in use, so chances are you'll have to remove a shortcut from something else first. There's plenty of things you probably don't use (like shortcuts to specific Filters), so that shouldn't be a problem.

These are the Photoshop shortcuts that have improved my efficiency when designing websites the most. Some are basic; some are a little more obscure. I thought I would share them.

Note that these are focused on web designers and may not be the most important shortcuts for people that actually use Photoshop to, you know, work on photos. Oh, and these are Windows shortcuts, though other platforms should be similar.

1Shift-Ctrl + CCopies to the clipboard from all layers, not just the active one. Beyond useful for creating the background images that make up your layout. No more flattening your design to extract images, accidentally saving, and then losing all your hard work. ;)

2Shift-Ctrl-Alt + NCreates a new layer immediately with no dialog. Because who needs dialogs?

Welcome to the latest version of H3XED! This was a minor design refresh over the outgoing site, but is freshly re-coded. I optimized the site for even faster loading by reducing some http requests and reducing the total file size of the website.

You'll also notice that I incorporated Facebook comments. The old comments are still visible, though you can no longer create new comments using the old system. I chose to use Facebook because I honestly didn't feel like coding another comment system or copying my old one. We'll see how the Facebook comment system works.

I've put some times into Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Skyrim over the last few weeks (part of the reason for the lack of updates). I was originally planning to create some posts regarding BF3 (tweaks, review, etc), but I honestly have not liked the game at all. My whole experience with Origin and Battlelog has been very negative. Once playing the game, I find the graphics to be extremely obtrusive. I don't care how "realistic" it looks, when you start sacrificing gameplay for "wow" factor, I stop playing the game:

It's been a while since my last blog post. I've been busy behind the scenes working on a number of things. Originally this update was going to be very small; I was going to move the site over to a Unix host and then use some basic mod_rewrite to clean up the URLs (EX: "post.php?id=4" becomes "post/4").

Welcome to the 4th version of the site. I rebuilt it from scratch as the old version had some rather outdated code and database schema. I added tags and series features. Tags are self-explanatory, and series are groups of posts that are related, which I can create to make it easier for you to find related posts. Right now I just have ActionScript 3 Tutorials, but I plan to add some more.

Here are some plans for the near future on updates to the site:

- Reply and Quote buttons for post comments, with paged comments and reply nesting. I will also add an email field (optional) to the post comments, should you want to be notified of any replies to your comment.

- Better logo and some more design tweaks.

- Post groups for similar posts or posts in a series. There would be links to each post group on the side bar. So you can easily pull up all Actionscript 3 guide posts, for example.
